Seahawks reportedly interested in signing Brady Quinn

The Seattle Seahawks are looking for a backup quarterback, and it appears as if Brady Quinn is the leading candidate.

The Seattle Seahawks are interested in signing quarterback Brady Quinn, according to ESPN's Ed Werder. Seattle is trying to find a backup for Russell Wilson after trading Matt Flynn to the Oakland Raiders.

The Seahawks held a four-man tryout for the backup job on Monday, giving Quinn, Matt Leinart, Tyler Thigpen and Seneca Wallace an opportunity to impress the team. While Thigpen had recently been rumored to be the favorite to win the job, Quinn's performance at the tryout appears to have given him the edge, per Werder. Considering Seattle's read-option offense with Wilson at QB, signing Quinn, who is more of a typical pocket passer, would be a surprise.

The Cleveland Browns selected Quinn with the 22nd overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, but the 28-year-old has been a disappointment so far in his career. He spent three years in Cleveland, compiling 1,902 yards, 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 14 games. The Browns traded Quinn to the Denver Broncos on March 14, 2010, and he never saw the field in two years with Denver.

As a free agent, Quinn signed with the Kansas City Chiefs before the 2012 season. After starting quarterback Matt Cassel was injured in October, Quinn took over and didn't exactly impress. In 10 games with Kansas City last season, he completed 56.9 percent of his passes for 1,141 yards, two touchdowns and eight interceptions.
