NFL injury report, Chargers vs. Eagles 2013: Wide receiver Malcolm Floyd doing “fine” after neck injury

The Chargers’ wide receiver avoided serious injury following a scary hit in San Diego’s game against the Eagles.

The Chargers were able to earn a win on the road in Week 2 against Philadelphia. However, the 33-30 win was not without its scares on the injury front for San Diego. During the contest, wide receiver Malcolm Floyd was smashed in between two Eagles defenders and fell to the ground, where he remained for several minutes. The Chargers' medical staff tended to the San Diego veteran and he was eventually taken off the field on a stretcher. Following his exit from the field, Floyd was transferred to a Philadelphia hospital with a reported neck injury.

According to Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Times, Floyd was able to travel home to San Diego with his teammates. Chargers head coach Mike McCoy also claimed that Floyd was doing “fine” after the game. There has been no update as to whether or not the neck injury will cause Floyd to miss any playing time.

For the Eagles, the team was able to stay relatively healthy in the home loss. The team reported that cornerback Brandon Hughes suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday's game. An update on the status of his injury is expected Monday.
