San Diego Chargers wide receiver Malcom Floyd got some good news on his scary injury. He will not be hospitalized in Philadelphia and will fly back home with the team, per Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Malcom Floyd injury: Chargers WR will fly home with team
Malcom Floyd appears to have avoided a serious injury. He will not spend the night in the hospital and is flying home with the team.
Floyd suffered an apparent neck injury in Sunday's win over the Philadelphia Eagles. He was sandwiched by DeMeco Ryans and Nate Allen while making a catch over the middle. His neck compressed into his body and he lay on the turf for several minutes. Floyd was transported to the hospital for further evaluation. The fact that he will be on an airplane shortly means that he appears to have avoided the worst-case scenario, but he will likely be out for some time.
With Floyd out for the foreseeable future, the Chargers are precariously thin at wide receiver. Eddie Royal, Vincent Brown and Keenan Allen were the only healthy receivers active for Sunday's game. They lost Danario Alexander to a torn ACL in training camp.
