Fantasy football waiver wire: 5 quarterbacks to target for Week 7

If you’re having some issues at quarterback in Week 7, you probably should take a look at the waiver wire.

Cliff McBride

Unless you have Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles, you're probably not in a pickle at quarterback this week. No quarterbacks really have bad matchups with the exception of Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning against the San Francisco 49ers, but you're probably not benching him.

Here are five QBs worthy of your attention heading into Week 7:

Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens (owned in 50 percent of leagues): Are you wacko for Flacco?? Well, you probably should be after Week 6. He scored four touchdown passes in the first quarter, which is more than the Minnesota Vikings have in the entire season. Flacco added a fifth in the second quarter and then just put it on crush control.

The Ravens changed their offensive scheme, and they're finally starting to get it going. He's armed with two fantastic receivers in Torrey Smith and Steve Smith Sr., so there is a high ceiling for him.

Looking ahead, he has a handful of great games coming up. He gets the Atlanta Falcons next week, the Tennessee Titans at home in Week 10, the New Orleans Saints at the Superdome in Week 12 and a few other great matchups down the stretch.

If you have any worries about your QB, go get him.

Waiver Wire Rankings: QB RB WR TE

Robert Griffin III, Washington (owned in 27 percent of leagues): Kirk Cousins is just awful and can't stop throwing interceptions. There were some murmurs of Washington just rolling with Cousins even if RG3 returns, but I think those murmurs have gone silent.

It’s easy to forget RG3 was an elite fantasy quarterback before his rookie season, but his ACL injury really derailed his career. Perhaps he can get it back and just needs to slide more.

He'll have a nice set of weapons with DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon and Jordan Reed. Griffin is worth a look as a stash. Although, he might not play at all this season.

Carson Palmer, Arizona Cardinals (owned in 30 percent of leagues): The Cardinals were happy to have their quarterback under center in Week 6, beating Washington at home. He was able to connect with Michael Floyd and Larry Fitzgerald for touchdowns.

Coach Bruce Arians has one of the best systems in the league and it's led to terrific output from quarterbacks. Palmer also has a young stud in John Brown to go with Fitz and Floyd, so there are a lot of chances to make plays.

He gets a revenge matchup against the Oakland Raiders in Week 7, so that should be fun. Palmer is batting 1.000 for successful fantasy starts in two tries, so things look up for him as a QB2 with a low-end QB1 ceiling.

Alex Smith, Kansas City Chiefs (owned in 42 percent of leagues): The Chiefs are coming off a bye week and get the San Diego Chargers in Week 7. The Chargers were just gashed by a rookie quarterback, so maybe Smith can get it going in the road game.

Thanks to tight end Travis Kelce emerging as a weapon, Smith has seven touchdowns in his last three games and one of them was against a very tough San Francisco 49ers defense on the road.

Fantasy owners can give him a look in two-QB leagues, but he’s never going to be a quarterback to carry you to the promised land.

Austin Davis, St. Louis Rams (owned in 14 percent of leagues): He's passing the ball a lot for the Rams and for some reason their rushing attack hasn't worked out.

Before the Week 6 outing, he passed the ball a whopping 91 times in his previous two games for a combined 702 yards and six scores. Not too shabby even against suspect defenses in the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys.

He won't be an option this week against the Seahawks and in Week 9 against the 49ers, but he has a terrific schedule in seemingly every other week until his Week 17 date in Seattle.
