The extremely durable Salvador Perez has one last hurdle to overcome. He was hit by a pitch just above the knee and took quite a while to get to first. He managed to stay in the game, failing to advance on two fly balls and generally looking not-super-healthy out there.
Salvador Perez HBP, injures leg in 2nd inning of Game 7
Perez remained in the game, but it was quite a scare for KC.
He did manage to make it to second following a single from Alcides Escobar, but the true test will be catching. While the thigh is probably a preferred spot to get hit by a pitch -- if one must get hit at all -- most players don't spend the majority of their time crouching behind the plate, so it could cause problems for Perez.
Royals backup catcher Erik Kratz is the only player on either roster not to appear in the series so far, so it's clear that Ned Yost will get as much out of Perez as he can. He's done that already of course, as Perez trails only Jason Kendall in terms of regular season starts at catcher since 2000.
