Fantasy football rankings, rest of season: Running backs

Ask and you shall receive. Here are the Rest of Season: Running Back rankings.

“What’s your take on LeSean McCoy ROS?”, “Where do you have Justin Forsett ranked ROS?”, and “Rank Latavius Murray this week and ROS” were common questions in both the War Room and twitter over the past few weeks. I didn’t feel good about it, but the only suitable answer to all those questions at the time were,“Honestly, I don’t know.” Better that than lie through our teeth about matchups we had yet to look at.

Well, ask and you shall receive. Your questions and comments were overheard, and because of that, we’ve pieced together our Rest of Season rankings. A few notes before you dive in:

1. Our ROS Rankings take Week 17 into account, but place emphasis on Weeks 14-16.

2. YPC Allowed is the average yards per carry allowed by a team’s remaining schedule. For instance, since the Atlanta Falcons play the Green Bay Packers (4.5 YPC), Pittsburgh Steelers (4.3), New Orleans Saints (4.3), and Carolina Panthers (4.4) from Week 14 on, their average YPC for the remainder of the season would be 4.4.

3. Strength of Schedule was determined by averaging the DVOA rushing defense of each remaining team left on a franchise’s schedule. Since a number of teams averaged the same remaining difficulty (or lack thereof), tiebreakers were determined by rounding up or down. SOS is ranked from 32 (easiest) to 1 (toughest).

But that’s what the numbers say. Our rankings, of course, take into account injury history, snap count, and our own personal opinions of a player. So here’s our gift to you. Happy Thanksgiving!
