Carson Palmer fell to the ground in the face of the St. Louis Rams pass rush early in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game, and may have suffered a serious non-contact injury to his left knee. Palmer was carted to the Arizona Cardinals' locker room and is questionable to return.
Palmer took a sack on third-and-7 during a Cardinals possession that started in the third quarter and continued into the fourth. He appeared to fall awkwardly. Rams safety Mark Barron was able to get a hand on Palmer during the play, but Palmer appeared to slip the tackle, only to fall.
Palmer had just signed a rich, three-year extension with Arizona this past week.
In Palmer's place, the Cardinals have turned to backup Drew Stanton, who played well as the Cards' starter earlier this season when Palmer missed four games with another injury. Stanton hit rookie John Brown with a play action touchdown on his first possession to give Arizona a 17-14 lead.
