A last-minute touchdown gave the Giants a comeback win over the 49ers on Sunday night. Earlier, the Falcons came back to beat Washington thanks to a pick-six, the Bears overcame a deficit to beat the Chiefs, and the Bengals, Patriots and Broncos stayed undefeated.

John Rieger-USA TODAY SportsYesterday’s NFL action featured a relatively short list of key injuries. There was, however, a devastating one for fans of the Kansas City Chiefs, what appears to be a serious injury to Jamaal Charles’ right knee. SB Nation Medical Expert Dr. Ali Mohamadi offers some insight into the Week 5 injury situation in his Monday morning injury update.
With the Chiefs driving to extend their lead midway through the third quarter, Charles took a handoff. After making a cut at the line of scrimmage, he buckled, a dreaded non-contact injury to his right knee. According to head coach Andy Reid, preliminary tests were suspicious for an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear. The extent of the injury will be revealed following an MRI scheduled for Monday. If indeed Charles has torn his ACL, he would undergo surgery and lose the rest of his 2015 campaign.

Rob Carr/Getty ImagesAgainst the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, McCown set multiple milestones, including the Browns franchise record for single-game passing yardage with 457. In the past three games, McCown has thrown for 1,154 yards, another team record. He’s also the first Browns quarterback to throw for 300-plus yards in three consecutive games.
McCown and the Browns are coming off a thrilling 33-30 overtime victory over the AFC North rival Ravens, the type of game Cleveland is typically on the losing side of -- and not just because it entered the matchup with a paltry 8-24 all-time record against the Ravens. The Browns have a reputation for finding a way of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. In Week 4, the Browns fought the San Diego Chargers for a hard four quarters, but after an offsides penalty, they lost by a field goal as time expired.

Elsa/Getty ImagesAfter the Seahawks built a lead, the Bengals came back to tie it at the last second, sending the game to overtime where the Bengals won 27-24. A win against the highly touted Seattle secondary could go a long way toward changing the narrative that Dalton is nothing more than a game manager for the Bengals.
Minutes later, the Falcons and Washington also headed to overtime, where Atlanta won with a walkoff pick-six.

Three down linemen seems a little off, right? Well, that’s what the Bengals just did.

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY SportsIn order to project a team’s record the rest of the way, Football Outsiders considers the current DAVE ratings of every team along with home-field advantage. DAVE is a formula that combines Football Outsiders’ preseason projections with their Defense-adjusted value over average (DVOA) in order to predict how a club will fare in its remaining games. Two different DAVE ratings are used to account for Tony Romo’s and Ben Roethlisberger’s absences, but the numbers still say the Cowboys and Steelers have seen their playoff odds take a dramatic hit.

A whole lot is going right for the Broncos at this stage of the season. Manning doesn’t look as dominant as he has in years past, but the defense is rated highly against the pass and the run. The Broncos have been getting to the opposing quarterback, shutting down star wide receivers and generally doing a solid job against the run.
Oakland is a team that seems headed in the right direction from an organizational standpoint. The Raiders were a laughingstock for years in the league, but recent offseasons have been viewed as productive from a team-building perspective. Now they have a team that’s perceived as competitive and, through four games, they’ve looked like it at times.

With the Cowboys battling as many injuries as they are, it’s difficult to pinpoint any of their strengths. Perhaps the one area Weeden could attack the Patriots is down the field -- New England’s patchwork secondary remains its weakness. But if the Patriots’ pass rush can get Weeden out of the pocket consistently, he’ll likely struggle to find open receivers.
The Patriots are fresh off a bye week and playing at full strength, whereas the Cowboys are limping along, just hoping to tread water until they get healthier. On paper, this matchup had all of the makings of a classic shootout between two titans. But now, it’s more like David vs. Goliath.

The Giants have crawled back to 2-2 after a couple crushing losses in Weeks 1 and 2, and now have to be considered a legitimate contender in the tightly bunched NFC East. The G-men are one of three teams tied atop the standings and are the only team in the division that has scored more points than it has allowed.
The Giants had the NFL’s worst rush defense last year, but have done a complete 360 this season under new defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. They have allowed the fewest rushing yards (69.8 per game), rushing first downs (14) and the second-fewest yards per carry (3.13) of any team. Their past two opponents, Washington in Week 3 and Buffalo in Week 4, each entered the game with the most rushing yards in the league, but were held to 88 yards and 55 yards by the Giants defenders.
