Special teams can make all the difference, and that was the case during “Monday Night Football” when a last-second field goal by the Browns to win the game turned into a blocked kick that was returned for a touchdown and a win for the Baltimore Ravens.
Josh McCown’s season ends with a broken collarbone

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY SportsManziel was on the bench for reportedly lying to Browns coaches about attending a party. Fans in the stadium chanted for Manziel to come in the game after McCown was hurt.
Despite imploring fans, however, Browns head coach Mike Pettine was committed to sending Manziel a message -- for this week, at least, and perhaps beyond.

According to NFL vice president of officiating Dean Blandino, the confusion centers around where the TV broadcast displayed the line of scrimmage:
Judging from the replay, it does look as though the digital line of scrimmage is beyond the football. Levine’s right hand appears close to the actual line of scrimmage, but it’s hard to tell whether it crossed into the neutral zone.

Baltimore’s Brent Urban blocked the kick in perfectly legal fashion, but his teammate Anthony Levine appeared to be lined up offsides prior to the kick. Levine initially jumped too early, but recovered in time to not be flagged for encroachment. While he got set again, he lined up with his hand and head in the neutral zone.
UPDATE: The NFL says that Levine was not lined up in the neutral zone. Dean Blandino, NFL Vice President of Officiating, says the ball was spotted at the 33 1/2-yard line, and the media “going around” have the line of scrimmage at the 33-yard line, giving it the appearance of Levine being in the neutral zone.

By now you may have seen what happened: The Ravens beat the Browns on Monday Night Football by blocking their game-winning field goal attempt and returning it a loooong way for a touchdown on the other end of the field.
Overshadowed by the absurdity of that play, however, was the fact that the preceding two minutes were almost just as crazy. Both teams attempted to lose at various points. It took one of the most improbable occurrences in football to finally give one team the win.

The ending of Browns-Ravens was about as ridiculous as anything you have ever seen.
With the score tied, 27-27, the Browns were kicking for the win. They wouldn’t get it because the Ravens blocked the kick and Will Hill returned it ALL THE WAY FOR A TOUCHDOWN. WHAT.

Browns fans are focusing on the Cavs

One of the keys to living a successful life is to know your strengths and play to them.
For instance, Cleveland fans have accepted the fact that their football team isn’t very good. Their basketball team, however, is very good! They have arguably the best player on the planet playing basketball in their town!

Kaelin Clay is really, really fast. He was drafted in the sixth round of the 2015 NFL Draft because of that trait, and despite the fact that he wasn’t a particularly accomplished pass catcher out of Utah.
Not that it matters. Clay used his ridiculous speed to electrify what was expected to be an otherwise ugly Monday night bout between the Browns and the Ravens.

It’s safe to say Josh McCown vs. Matt Schaub wasn’t the matchup ESPN had in mind when they made their Monday Night Football schedule this spring. Yet, that’s the primetime “showdown” we have here between the Baltimore Ravens (3-7) and Cleveland Browns (2-8). The game will be streamed live on the WatchESPN app, if you dare.
The Ravens gutted out a sloppy win over the St. Louis Rams last week, but it came at a heavy price. Joe Flacco tore his ACL and Justin Forsett broke his arm, leaving both out for the rest of the season. That means Baltimore is forced to turn to Matt Schaub -- yes, that Matt Schaub. The one who once threw a pick-six in four straight games. And he’ll be handing the ball off to somebody named Javorius “Buck” Allen. And he won’t have Steve Smith to throw to. Yeah, it’s one of those seasons in Baltimore.
