Tuesday’s 2-1 victory at home is a good confidence booster for the young netminder, who will have to shoulder the burden of Montreal’s back end through the next month and a half. The shot on net caught Abdelkader in the chest, bounced off his arm that was tucked into his body, squeezed up and over Ullmark, who was as still as a statue as the puck went right over his head and into the net. Certainly one of the weirdest deflection goals this season, made even crazier by Ullmark’s lack of reaction to a play he clearly did not see coming.
