It hasn't been much of a rookie season for San Diego Chargers running back Melvin Gordon. He has no touchdowns, no 100-yard games, and only one game of more than 60 rushing yards. It got worse Sunday, as the rookie was forced from the Chargers' 30-14 win over the Miami Dolphins with a left knee injury.
Melvin Gordon leaves with knee injury; fantasy prospects dimming
The rookie running back hasn’t done a lot this season. We break down the fantasy implications.

Gordon had 15 carries Sunday for 41 yards before leaving the game. Donald Brown got the majority of the carries in his absence, getting the ball 12 times for 90 yards and adding two catches for 14 more. It was Danny Woodhead who really had the quality at running back; he ran the ball only eight times for only 10 yards, but scored a rushing touchdown, and caught six passes for 50 yards and three scores.
Fantasy impact: We’ll hear more about Gordon’s status come Monday or Tuesday, but it wouldn’t be a big shock if this ended the season for the disappointing rookie on the 4-10 Chargers. Sunday’s yardage just brought him over 800 yards from scrimmage for the season, with no scores and four lost fumbles. Gordon still has a bright enough future, but 2015 has not been his year.
The team hasn’t ruled him out yet, though. Even if Gordon makes it back onto the field, he’s only worth a look in the deepest of fantasy leagues. And if Gordon sits, Brown would see a bump in usage, but he’s not worth much of a look either.
