In the second half of Sunday's blowout 30-14 loss to the San Diego Chargers, the Miami Dolphins gave rookie running back Jay Ajayi more touches than starter Lamar Miller. Early reports were just that game flow led them to rest Miller, but it came out after the game that Miller had suffered a quad injury in the second quarter.
Lamar Miller held up by quad injury; fantasy status dimming
The Miami running back barely played late in the game. We break down the fantasy implications.

Miller had nine carries in Sunday’s game for only 12 yards, adding two catches for 12 more. In a fill-in role, Ajayi had six carries for 27 yards and a score as well as a 15-yard catch. The updates on Miller’s injury Sunday night were sparing, but more should come out Monday.
Fantasy impact: Miller has now been basically held out of the second half in back-to-back games, with the Dolphins not giving him as many carries as you'd expect for a back who has been as successful on a per-carry basis as Miller has been. At this point, even if the injury proves to be nothing and Miller is fine for Week 16 against the Colts, he can't be counted on as anything more than a mid-range RB2.
Ajayi has looked really good in a fill-in role for Miller the handful of times he’s gotten carries. His stock isn’t very high for the rest of this year, but with Miller heading into free agency, Ajayi is certainly worth a long look in keeper/dynasty leagues.
