A game that felt like it might never have a touchdown suddenly turned into an interesting contest in the late fourth quarter with Dallas and Washington exchanging touchdowns to keep a tied game. The Cowboys nailed a field goal with just seconds left on the clock to earn the win.

Kirk Cousins is ecstatic about a positive question

He doesn’t care what Dallas did to win on what was essentially a 30-second drive because, again, he has that attitude. Hey, he has that PMA -- that positive mental attitude!

Even during the heartbreaking loss, Cousins relied on the power of positivity to get him going. When asked by a reporter if we can gain something positive about this loss, all Cousins could do is bask in the question itself as though he was the best, most enthusiastic second grade teacher in the entire school district. The jubilant pointing also helps.

Dallas wins absurd finish in Washington

    Then things really got crazy

Until the finish, the theme of Monday’s game was sputtering offense. Both teams stopped themselves in a myriad ways. Worst was an inability convert third-and-1. Washington got stuffed once and Dallas twice, the second time at Washington’s 1-yard line. The Cowboys had to settle for field goals on those two drives as a result. On the night, the two teams were a combined 7-of-25 on third downs.

DeSean Jackson makes huge mistake, redeems himself

In case you’re wondering whether or not Jackson was down, the NFL’s rulebook says that a player is down if any part of his arm above the wrist touches the ground. If your wrist or hand touches the ground, you’re not down. It’s Jackson’s wrist and not his arm above the wrist that hits the ground here. Therefore, he was not down. Announcers often say “the ground can’t force a fumble,” but that’s not really how it works. As long as you’re not down, anything can cause a fumble, including the ground. In this case, Jackson was not down.

But on the next drive, Jackson came right back with a game-tying TD:

The Cowboys’ tablets and printers aren’t working

Technology can be so helpful -- when it works. Just ask the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington football team.

On Monday, the Cowboys’ communication service to their Microsoft surface tablets wasn’t working properly. With their primary source of playbook information temporarily down, they used the next best thing and relied on printed versions of their playbook. Tangible copies can’t fail, right? They don’t, but even the printers weren’t working correctly for the visiting Cowboys.

ESPN mistakes Washington as the ‘Redksins’

There is a lot of controversy surrounding Washington’s nickname with a federal judge upholding the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s decision to remove the team’s trademark. Some media outlets have opted to stop using the nickname entirely. ESPN has not been one of those, but there was something amiss on one of their Monday Night Football graphics.

That typo remained briefly before getting fixed. It’s a simple error rather than a reaction to the nickname. Even still, it’s a solid fallback option for Washington should it continue to run into issues. “Redksins” might be a better option than trying to keep the current name while using porn as part of your defense.

Not even NFL teams ‘control their own destiny’

    Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

It’s that time of year when college football and NFL fans start talking playoffs, and we inevitably see things like this:

“As we enter the final month of the regular season, Washington, of all teams, controls its own destiny to win a division crown.”

“Michigan State controls its own destiny in the College Football Playoff.”

“The Patriots still control their own destiny when it comes to securing home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.”

Washington rare favorite hosting the Cowboys on MN

    Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

Washington is 5-0 straight up and 4-1 against the spread in their last five games at home. Washington will try to pick up a sixth straight home win this Monday night when they host the Dallas Cowboys.

Washington is a 4-point home betting favorite at FedExField according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. This is just the second time this season that Washington has been a betting favorite, beating Tampa Bay but failing to cover the spread as a 3-point favorite in the other instance back in October.
