Antonio Brown suffers concussion on helmet-to-helmet hit from Vontaze Burfict

There is no word yet on Antonio Brown’s status for next week’s game against the Broncos.

Antonio Brown suffered a concussion during Saturday night's frantic ending to the Steelers-Bengals Wild Card game in Cincinnati. Brown took a vicious blow to the head on an egregious tackle by Vontaze Burfict. The hit might have cost the Bengals the game, but unfortunately for the Steelers it had the side effect of possibly taking out their best offensive playmaker.

It is much too soon for any prognosis for next weekend's Divisional round game against the No. 1 seed Denver Broncos. If Brown sits, the Steelers' receiving corps is deep enough to mitigate his absence, with Martavis Bryant and Markus Wheaton having proven themselves to be capable pass catchers. With Ben Roethlisberger potentially hobbled as well, however, the Steelers can't afford to lose many more weapons.

Brown was his usual self against the Bengals, catching seven passes for 119 yards on 12 targets. He was perhaps the best wideout in the NFL in 2015, catching 136 passes for 1,834 yards and 10 touchdowns during the regular season.

The Steelers will no doubt be monitoring his progress with bated breath as they prepare for one of the best defenses -- and secondaries -- in the NFL.
