Emotional Jeremy Maclin carted off with knee injury, no indication yet it was a tear
The Chiefs’ wide receiver may have avoided a tear, pending the results of an MRI on Sunday.

Jeremy Maclin left Saturday’s Wild Card game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans after getting tackled in the third quarter and seemingly twisting his knee. He was carted off the sideline to the locker room and later ruled out of the game.
He may have avoided a serious injury. After the Chiefs’ win, head coach Andy Reid said that Maclin suffered a strained knee and will undergo an MRI on Sunday. It was later reported that Maclin suffered an ACL injury, with no indication yet that it is torn.
Maclin was emotional on the sideline.
Maclin was in the midst of a good day against the Texans, catching three passes for 39 yards before leaving. He has been one of Kansas City’s best offensive playmakers this season, with 87 catches for 1,088 yards and, notably, eight touchdowns coming off a 2014 season in which ZERO Chiefs wide receivers found the end zone.
If Maclin continues to sit, the Chiefs will have to rely heavily on tight end Travis Kelce, who is quarterback Alex Smith’s other favorite target. Kelce had eight catches for 128 yards against the Texans.
Hopefully Maclin can make a return sooner than later. For now, he can take heart that his team got its first playoff win since 1994.
