The 12th week of the 2016 regular season is just about coming to a close with only the Monday Night Football game remaining. Most fantasy football leagues will run their waiver wires late Tuesday or early Wednesday, but we are here to help you get a jump on the best options to consider.
We will be ranking the top players likely to be available in your league at each of the major positions. Some weeks there might not be many good options available, but we’ll scour for the best we can find. Additionally, throughout the week, we will update each of these articles as ownership percentages change (via Yahoo!) and news arrives.
Waiver wire quarterback rankings, Week 13
1. Ryan Tannehill, Miami Dolphins (28 percent owned)
Tannehill showed that he could produce and lead his team to victory, despite the struggles of the rushing offense against the 49ers. The Dolphins quarterback threw for 285 yards and three touchdowns in Miami’s win over San Francisco. He also added 34 yards on the ground. Tannehill may need to produce again next week as the Dolphins will face the Ravens’ very stout rushing defense.
2. Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens (25 percent owned)
Flacco has been a frustrating fantasy option because he has the talent around him to be successful. The Baltimore quarterback passed for 234 yards, a touchdown, and an interception in the Ravens’ win over the Bengals. Flacco was only able to find the end zone on the opening drive, and failed to generate much offense in the second half. He may be forced to produce more to win next week against a Dolphins’ offense that has been posting fairly high scores.
3. Colin Kaepernick, San Francisco 49ers (24 percent owned)
The full potential of Kaepernick was on display against the Dolphins as he showed off both his strong arm and quick legs. The San Francisco quarterback threw for 296 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. In addition, he ran for 113 yards in the 49ers’ loss to the Dolphins. This is the type of quarterback play Chip Kelly’s system needs to succeed, and Kaepernick has a good opportunity to build upon this performance against a Bears’ defense that has struggled since their bye.
4. Ryan Fitzpatrick, New York Jets (16 percent owned)
Fitzpatrick looked fairly competent for the majority of the game against the Patriots, before fumbling it away late in the fourth quarter. The Jets quarterback threw for 269 yards and two touchdowns, but lost a crucial fumble in New York’s defeat to New England. On the bright side, Fitzpatrick did not throw an interception, and should have a favorable match up against Indianapolis next week.
5. Trevor Siemian, Denver Broncos (11 percent owned)
After an unproductive first half Siemian came alive but couldn’t quite give his team enough to win. The Denver quarterback passed for 368 yards and three touchdowns, he also added 23 yards on the ground. Siemian will have a good chance to continue his momentum against Jacksonville next week.
6. Matt Barkley, Chicago Bears (one percent owned)
Despite being impacted by the absence of several key players due to injury or suspension, Barkley was able to produce a decent fantasy day. The Chicago quarterback threw for 316 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions in the Bears’ loss to the Titans. The two interceptions occurred in the red zone early on in the game, but Barkley managed to forget the turnovers quickly. He should have a good chance to produce in Week 13 against a poor San Francisco defense.
