President Barack Obama is an avowed White Sox fan, but he set that aside to root for the Chicago Cubs in their quest to end a 108-year championship drought.
President Obama wants to rush a Cubs White House visit before he’s gone
Usually championship teams wait until they are in the D.C. area during their next season. Obama, who reps Chicago, won’t be in office when pitchers and catchers report.

Now that the Cubs have actually, really, seriously won the World Series, Obama wants to personally congratulate them before he leaves office.
The President can’t get his Supreme Court nominee a confirmation hearing in the final year of his second term, but maybe as a consolation prize he can get a bonus sports moment after the Cubs’ historic win. The logistics will be tough, but Obama’s hallmark slogan is “Yes, We Can.” Make it happen.
There would be some irony, of course, in Obama potentially taking a Cubs visit away from presidential election front-runner Hillary Clinton, who was born and raised in Chicago and celebrated the Cubs’ victory on the trail Wednesday night.
The other major party presidential candidate ... well, he’s probably not celebrating the Cubs’ World Series win due to his feud with the team’s ownership and this, ah, humorous comment back in March.
