The Indians led three games to one, but the Cubs roared back with three straight wins to win the 2016 World Series, capturing their first championship since 1908.
Cubs fans keep celebrating with trust falls off tall objects in Chicago
The form on the trust faller on Wednesday was much cleaner. Straight back, no bent knees, just all-around more practiced (or in reality, more drunk) than the guy on Friday. That’s as much trust fall analysis as I’m willing to give about these two people.
This probably isn’t the best idea. It’s all fun and games until someone, like, you know, dies. Please stop doing this.

Photo by Justin Merriman/Getty ImagesThe World Series’ Game 7 was incredible, and the televisions ratings reflected it. The Fox broadcast of the game eclipsed the 40-million viewer mark and is the most-watched baseball game in the last 25 years, according to Sports Business Journal’s John Ourand.
The huge ratings make sense. The Cubs are in an enormous market and had a 108-year championship drought, while the Indians also hadn’t won a championship in decades. The games early on were great, but Cleveland’s blown 3-1 lead to set up Game 7 was even more thrilling. Then the game itself blew even the wildest expectations out of the water and even needed an extra inning, giving fans plenty of time to make sure they were watching the game somewhere before it was all over. It felt like a couple million fans were watching on Chicago streets alone.

There was not one, but two major victories in last night’s Game 7 World Series finale.
After 108 years, the Cubs finally (!) broke the curse and became World Series champions. And, just seconds after their Game 7 victory, Chicago’s elderly fans won our hearts.

Printing actual hard copies of papers is a process that takes some time. But because people want their newspapers delivered before they wake up, you’ve also got to rush. Which meeeeeeeans that when Game 7 of the World Series goes into extra innings after a rain delay, a recap of the whole game’s events might miss the print deadline. And so you get this in Lafayette, Ind.:
The beauty of this -- and honestly, it’s beautiful, because a print deadline is a calculated hard stop that must be respected -- is that it’s all true. Rajai Davis’ homer for Cleveland *did* send the game to extra innings and *did* technically make the Cubs wait a little longer to end their World Series drought. And of course, the online edition has everything covered:

One of the very best things ESPN does, along with 30 for 30 and its magazine writing, is the SportsCenter commercials. With the Cubs winning the World Series, they did it again. This one is just perfect in every way, finally erasing that 108 years number to put a zero on the board.
We hope the UConn Husky is OK, though!

The treasured oaks at Toomer’s Corner are a storied landmark in college football housed at Auburn University. A simple tradition fans have is covering them in toilet paper to celebrate stuff. Yeah, it’s kinda weird, but it works. After the Cubs clinched the World Series, you bet Cubs fans in the deep south got to rolling.
We should note that Cubs catcher David Ross played baseball at Auburn. This was technically his third World Series. He played for the Boston Red Sox, but also went to a College World Series while he played for the Tigers.

There is nobody who represents the Cubs more than Harry Caray. The legendary broadcaster called Cubs games for 16 years. This commercial ran right after Chicago finished up their first World Series championship in 108 years.
Caray was one of us, never exhibiting the pretense or polish of other slick TV men. He’s famous for, among other things, sharing a Bud with legendary fan Bill Murray one time in the booth. He may have broadcasted other teams in his career, but he connected with Cubs fans: he was their voice more than any other team’s.

There hasn’t been a rain delay in the World Series since 2008, which caused a rule to be put in place that all World Series games must be fully completed (there was a postponement in 2011, but it was before the game started). It’s Game 7 of the World Series tied at 6 headed into the 10th inning — this game must be completed.
Right now, play is expected to resume at 12:15 a.m. ET.
