The Chicago Cubs won their first World Series championship in 108 years with a thrilling seven-game triumph over the Cleveland Indians. And for his efforts on Wednesday night and throughout the series, Ben Zobrist was named World Series MVP.

Zobrist is the first Cub ever to win a World Series MVP, since there was no such award in 1908, the last time the Cubs won it all.
Zobrist drove home the go-ahead run in the 10th inning of Game 7 with an RBI double, and for the series was 10-for-28 with two doubles and a triple, hitting .357/.419/.500.
It culminated a fruitful first season as a Cub for Zobrist, who won the World Series in 2015 as a member of the Kansas City Royals, as well.
After signing a four-year, $56 million as a free agent with Chicago last winter, Zobrist hit .272/.386/.446 with 18 home runs and 31 doubles in 147 games. He proved quite versatile as well, starting games at second base, left field and right field throughout the season.
Zobrist was one of eight different Cubs to drive in a run in Game 7, their 8-7 triumph over the Indians.
