In 1984, the Chicago Cubs lost to the San Diego Padres in the National League Championship Series. It was at some point after that, this Cubs fan decided to stow away a beer for when the Cubs finally won it all.
Cubs fan cracks open a 32-year-old beer to celebrate Chicago’s World Series win
He kept that beer for 32 long years. Wednesday night, he finally got to crack it open.
That Cubs fan stored the can through 20 losing seasons. There were a couple of close calls along the way, but nothing that ever really threatened the can. And if you think this is fake, look at the can! Pull tab open and all.
Think about all that’s happened during that can’s life. Over 32 years it may have been stored in multiple houses. Packed and moved multiple times. It’s occupied some space in a cupboard or refrigerator or closet somewhere. The fan probably drank hundreds, if not thousands, of other beers. But not this one. This one was saved for 32 years. That had to be the most rewarding opening of a beer in the history of beer.
The fan didn’t drink it, which after that long is probably a wise decision. Now he needs to store away a new beer. Hopefully he gets to open that one in less than three decades.
