In the early stages of the New England Patriots’ 30-23 victory against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 14, quarterback Tom Brady and receiver Julian Edelman got off on the wrong foot.
Tom Brady yells at Julian Edelman because he loves him
Scream at the top of your lungs, Tom Terrific.

On the team’s third possession, Brady threw a deep pass to Edelman, but the receiver partially stopped running. The incomplete pass ended the drive. Following the play, Brady looked at Edelman down the field, threw his hands up, and swung his right fist forward.
The veteran quarterback walked off the field, slammed his helmet on the sidelines, threw a water bottle over a bench, and started yelling. Brady then sat beside Edelman and voiced his frustration.
Edelman told WEEI that his situation with Brady was a miscommunication.
“I have to do better and go on from there,” Edelman said. “Ebbs and flows of competitiveness in a crucial game. I know how he is. [I] would be a little more scared if he wasn’t yelling at me because if he yells at you then he says he loves you, so he really loves me I guess.”
Edelman wasn’t bothered by Brady’s outburst. He’s used to it.
“I’ll be that punching bag as long as it makes him feel good. It’s a relationship. It’s give and take.”
Despite serving a four-games suspension earlier in the season, Brady is having an excellent year. He has thrown for 2,876 yards to go along with 22 touchdowns and two interceptions. Edelman has 79 catches for 791 yards and two touchdowns.
New England is sitting atop of the AFC East at 11-2 and is looking to clinch the first seed in the AFC. The Patriots will travel to the Mile High City for a Week 15 showdown against the Denver Broncos.
And if Brady is caught screaming on the sideline Sunday, it won’t be for his health. He strives excellence, and he wants to see his fellow teammates play well. He only yells because he cares.
