Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY SportsThe NFL playoff race is heating up as we head into the final weeks of the season. A couple of teams were set up to potentially clinch berths this week, but plenty more are just fighting to stay in the picture.
The Chiefs handled the Raiders on Thursday night to take over first place in the AFC West. Now owning a season sweep over Oakland, Kansas City controls its own fate for the divisional title. The Raiders’ loss is great news for the Patriots, who moved back into the top spot in the AFC after their win over the Ravens. New England could have clinched the AFC East with a win and a loss by the Dolphins, but Miami’s last-second win over the Cardinals prevented that before the Patriots even played.

The New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens gave us a call that raised questions on just the second drive of the game.
Joe Flacco had nowhere to go with the football. Patriots defensive lineman Trey Flowers got a hold of Flacco, and as he carried the QB and his progress backward, took the ball from Flacco’s hands, appearing to cause a fumble.

Titans wide receiver Harry Douglas sparked outrage on and off the field by diving at the knee of Denver Broncos cornerback Chris Harris Jr. in Tennessee’s 13-10 Week 14 win. Aqib Talib retaliated on the next play, initiating a fight with Douglas, which became a brawl with several players involved.
Douglas was not flagged for the block, but it could have caused serious injury to Harris. Douglas dove at Harris’s knee, leading with his helmet, despite the fact that neither was near the ball.

Brad Penner-USA TODAY SportsEzekiel Elliott was the odds-on favorite to win the 2017 NFL MVP Award with only four weeks left in the regular season. With three weeks to go, his lead stands to get even larger.
Week 14 shredded the candidacy of some of the league’s former frontrunners as big names like Derek Carr, Russell Wilson, and Dak Prescott turned in some of the worst performances of their professional careers. While his peers were sputtering, Elliott turned in his first 100-yard performance in nearly a month, showcasing the speed and power for which he’s come to be known.

Photo by Rey Del Rio/Getty ImagesThe Jacksonville Jaguars got a lead late in the third quarter against the Minnesota Vikings, but immediately followed it by picking up a rare penalty that helped set up a touchdown drive for the Vikings.
Jaguars kicker Jason Myers was called for delay of game on the kickoff after the Jacksonville touchdown. It was the first delay of game called on a kickoff since Baltimore Ravens kicker Dave Rayner was called for it in the final minutes of a 24-7 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in 2005.

Raj Mehta-USA TODAY SportsThe Dallas Cowboys are the only team to clinch a playoff spot so far this season, but they came up short of securing an NFC East title in Week 14. They snapped an 11-game winning streak in Week 14 with a 10-7 loss to the New York Giants. Dallas, which dropped to 11-2, has been beaten twice by the Giants this season.
In Tampa, the Buccaneers added to their increasingly impressive resume and established themselves as a presence in the playoff race. The Bucs (8-5) defeated the Saints (5-8), holding one of the NFL’s top offenses to just 11 points. Tampa Bay, which has now won five consecutive games, has victories over Atlanta, Carolina, Kansas City, and Seattle.

Photo by Stacy Revere/Getty ImagesNo quarterback has ever lit up Pete Carroll’s Seahawks as efficiently as Aaron Rodgers did on Sunday. His 150.8 passer rating was easily the highest ever against the vaunted secondary since Carroll became head coach. He only needed to attempt 23 passes on the day to get 246 yards and three touchdowns.
Those don’t look like blistering numbers, but relatively speaking, they are. The Seahawks had the sixth-best pass defense and fifth-best overall defense by DVOA entering the week. Only three other passers have posted a rating better than 90.8 against the Seahawks this season, and only Matt Ryan managed three touchdowns. It’s hard work passing against the Legion of Boom.

Dallas Cowboys left tackle Tyron Smith is one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL today. He’s also a massive guy at 6’5 and 320 pounds.

The Giants were trailing the Cowboys 7-3 in the third quarter of their Sunday Night Football matchup. Then, Odell Beckham Jr. happened.
Beckham caught a short pass over the middle, then outraced the entire Dallas secondary to find the end zone for a 61-yard touchdown pass. It was New York’s first touchdown of the day, and Beckham’s first against the Cowboys since breaking the internet with his spellbinding, one-handed diving catch back in 2014.

New York Giants left tackle Ereck Flowers didn’t do the best job of protecting Eli Manning’s blind side in the second quarter of Sunday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys.

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY SportsAdam Jones and the Cincinnati Bengals’ secondary limited Browns wide receiver Terrelle Pryor to just one reception for 3 yards in a 23-10 win on Sunday. Rather than let his play speak for itself, the often brash cornerback made sure the world knew how little he thought about the versatile Cleveland wideout.
Jones avoided questions about the game itself during the postgame media scrum. Instead, he took every opportunity he could to lay into Pryor. The veteran defensive back hit everything from the receiver’s upbringing to his career in the NFL.
