The NFL dismissed any notion that it could be dealing with a DeflateGate sequel.
“The officiating game ball procedures were followed and there were no chain of command issues,” league spokesman Brian McCarthy said. “All footballs were in compliance and no formal complaint was filed by the Giants with our office.”
The Giants believed two of the footballs used by Pittsburgh in New York’s 24-14 loss were not properly inflated. They sent the footballs to the league for evaluation, but did not file a formal complaint.
The minimum PSI is 12.5 and according to Pro Football Talk, one football was at 11.4 PSI and the second at 11.8 PSI. Both footballs were used in the second half of a cold-weather game.
