The Baltimore Ravens have taken wide receiver Steve Smith off of the PUP list and he could practice by next Monday, according to Baltimore Sun reporter Jeff Zrebiec.
Steve Smith removed from PUP list, could be late-round fantasy gem
Coming off a season-ending Achilles injury in 2015, the Ravens wide receiver could practice with the team as soon as Monday. We break down the fantasy implications.
Entering his 16th NFL season in 2016, Smith is coming off a 2015 season that was cut short by an Achilles injury. At his age (37), this type of injury may be hard for Smith to come back and remain a consistent receiving option for the Ravens this year.
Fantasy impact: In 2015, Smith was on pace for one of his best seasons in recent years. At the time of his injury, he was on pace to catch 105 passes for 1,500 yards and seven touchdowns.
His injury has impacted his 2016 ADP (11th round) and rightfully so. Until the season gets underway, it is hard to determine how much production can be expected from Smith this year.
But Smith has been doubted for his entire career and it would not surprise anyone if he became a solid fantasy option once again in 2016.
