Arizona Cardinals wide receiver John Brown may not be ready to play in the team’s first game of the 2016 regular season against the New England Patriots, according to the Arizona Republic's Bob McManaman on Tuesday.
John Brown unsure of status for Week 1, could slightly impact his fantasy value
The Cardinals’ wide receiver is still experiencing concussion-related symptoms. We explore the fantasy implications.
Brown has been recovering from a concussion he suffered back on Aug. 1 during a team practice. Although he has passed the league’s concussion protocol and has been cleared by team doctors to practice, the Cardinals’ receiver is still experiencing concussion-related symptoms.
Brown did admit during Arizona’s practice on Monday that this is the first concussion he has ever suffered during his career. The team is hoping that he will be able to play in their regular season opener on Sept. 11.
UPDATE: Brown has been cleared to play for the Cardinals’ preseason game against the Denver Broncos on Thursday, but it is still unlikely that he will suit up.
Fantasy Impact: In 2016, Brown will be looking to improve upon his breakout season in 2015 when he finished with 65 catches for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns.
His current seventh round ADP shows that fantasy owners are confident that Brown will repeat or improve upon the success he had last year. The only concerns would be in relation to his concussion but his return to practice bodes well for his chances to play in Week 1 against the Patriots.
