Kansas City Chiefs

Start ‘em

Late-round fantasy draft pick Spencer Ware may have provided fantasy owners the most bang for their buck in Week 1, finishing third in fantasy points among running backs. His matchup will be much tougher on Sunday against an imposing Texans defensive front, but it’s one that just lost Brian Cushing indefinitely. Ware remains a must-start, but will be considered more of an RB2.

Travis Kelce also remains a must-start after logging 14 catches, 234 yards and a pair of touchdowns over two games against the Texans in 2015. He’s firmly in the TE1 class and has top-five potential after a strong start to 2016.

Start ‘em?

Jeremy Maclin exceeded expectations against Jason Verrett in Week 1, posting a 5/63/1 line despite missing part of the game due to a concussion test. Maclin’s recent numbers against the Texans aren’t robust, but the capable receiver will be a WR3/flex option in a game that could skew more toward Kelce in terms of targets.

Sit ‘em

Chris Conley’s seven targets in Week 1 were encouraging, but it was in a game where Alex Smith uncharacteristically threw 48 times. He and his quarterback will be difficult to trust in Week 2.

Houston Texans

Start ‘em

It’s refreshing to see a coach actually give a talented player the football, which is a concept Lamar Miller owners weren’t familiar with in his Miami days. It couldn’t be more apparent that those days are over, as Bill O’Brien gave his new bell cow 32 touches in his Texans debut. The Chiefs allowed 4.3 yards per carry to Chargers running backs in Week 1, and Miller may be poised for even more success. He’s a high-end RB1.

DeAndre Hopkins found the end zone in Week 1, which isn’t exactly surprising for a man who scored 11 of them in 2015. His yardage total of 54 was on the conservative side for him, but a rebound can be expected against a team that was well on its way to being roasted by Keenan Allen before he suffered a season-ending injury.

Will Fuller was the headline grabber for better and for worse in his NFL debut. The bad news was he dropped a would-be 80-yard touchdown, an issue that draftniks were concerned with from his college days. The good news is more plentiful: Fuller led the Texans with 11 targets, showed no signs of a hamstring injury that hampered him over the summer and he finished with a 5/107/1 line. His big-play ability is for real, and he will stay on the WR2/WR3 radar.

Sit ‘em

Though Brock Osweiler had an encouraging Texans debut that could have been even bigger had Fuller not dropped a sure touchdown, there is enough depth at the position for fantasy owners to look for less volatile options.
