Browns OT Joe Thomas misses snaps for first time in his career with arm injury

A streak of over 10,000 snaps ended Sunday.

Scott R. Galvin-USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Browns offense ran plays without Joe Thomas at left tackle for the first time since 2006 after the offensive lineman suffered an arm injury against the Tennessee Titans in Week 7.

The Browns announced the injury as a triceps problem and said he will not return Sunday. After the game, Thomas said via Andrew Gribble of the team’s website that he does not know if he’ll be able to play again this season. The injury is feared to be a triceps tear, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. He’ll undergo an MRI on Monday to determine whether or not he’ll need season-ending surgery.

Thomas, 32, was the No. 3 pick in the 2007 NFL Draft and was an immediate starter for the Browns. Earlier in the 2017 season, he crossed 10,000 consecutive snaps and is believed to be the first and only NFL player to ever cross that mark.

That streak reached 10,363 snaps before the injury Sunday.

On the play, Thomas appeared to injure his left arm and left the game holding it to his side.

The Browns are pretty helpless on offense and things won’t get easier for DeShone Kizer, Cody Kessler, Kevin Hogan or whoever else is under center in Cleveland if Thomas is out of action.
