Chiefs vs. Cowboys, recapped in a 2-minute read

What happened: The Cowboys beat the Chiefs by a final score of 28-17.

How it happened: The Cowboys got on the board first, with a 6-yard Dak Prescott pass to Cole Beasley. The defense held the Chiefs to a field goal and then Dallas got in the end zone again when Prescott barreled through the Chiefs defense for a 10-yard score.

But momentum started to swing in the Chiefs’ favor. Tyreek Hill made the Cowboys look foolish on a 56-yard touchdown just before the half. The Chiefs got the ball to start the second half, and didn’t take long to strike again on a 2-yard pass from Alex Smith to Travis Kelce. The Chiefs celebrated with a potato sack race in the end zone.

Then the Chiefs defense allowed 14 unanswered points. The Cowboys took the lead back with a 2-yard Ezekiel Elliott run. Then Cole Beasley dove into the end zone to extend the Dallas lead to 28-17. Alex Smith threw his first pick of the season, which was the last straw for Kansas City. The Chiefs got the ball back with 1:49 to play and no timeouts left. They couldn’t get into the end zone.

Who stood out: The Chiefs can’t be happy that Ezekiel Elliott got a stay on his suspension for this week. They had the 30th-ranked run defense in the league coming into this game, and Elliott and the Cowboys took advantage. Elliott had 93 yards and a touchdown.

Cole Beasley had just 24 yards, but he scored two of the Cowboys’ touchdowns.

Even though they didn’t get the win, some Chiefs players made an impression. Tyreek Hill absolutely exposed the Dallas defense on that touchdown play. He only had two catches on the day, but that one was spectacular.

Travis Kelce has been one of the league’s best tight ends this year, and this game was no different. Tony Romo even compared Kelce to his BFF, Jason Witten. Kelce finished with seven catches on nine targets for 73 yards and a touchdown.

Anything else? Tony Romo was in the booth doing play-by-play for his former team for the first time. The Cowboys honored him with a nice video tribute before the game. His takes on his former team were even more insightful than usual, and he managed to do it without sounding like a homer.

Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams both left the game with injuries, which is not ideal for the Cowboys.
