Two of the most exciting events related to the Little League World Series happened away from the tournament on Tuesday, with 12-year-old Boog Powell FaceTiming his namesakes and 13-year-old Jayce Blalock hitting a major league-distance home run at SunTrust Park.
Little League World Series scores 2017: Mexico moves on with a resounding win over Latin America
Australia and South Dakota had an exciting consolation game as well.

But games also happened, and teams moved on, despite the third game scheduled on the day being bumped to Wednesday after some sever weather and a tornado warning.
Before the halt of play though, both Mexico and Australia punched their tickets to the next round. Mexico put down Latin America 8-0, with a dominant 4 1⁄3 inning, two-hit starting pitching performance from Isaac Miranda as well as home runs in the third and fifth innings to build a lead.
Latin America simply couldn’t match up, and Mexico will play the loser of tomorrow’s Canada-Japan tilt in an elimination game on Thursday.
Australia, meanwhile, had a more back-and-forth day before sending Midwest representative South Dakota home, 11-7. South Dakota put up four runs in the first inning but couldn’t hold on. With the game tied at seven runs apiece in the fifth inning, Australia’s Harrison Wheeldon tripled in three runs to seal the win.
As the game was a consolation game, both teams are heading home from Williamsport. Australia just got to say goodbye to the competition with a win.
