Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather spent the weeks leading up to their boxing match on Saturday taunting each other in the press. McGregor usually aggressed.

McGregor’s taunts are now physical, too.

In the first round in Las Vegas on Saturday night, which Mayweather won in the 10th round, McGregor’s taunts transitioned from verbal to physical. He put his gloves behind his back while looking Mayweather in the eye, momentarily putting down all of his defenses.
McGregor only kept his hands behind his back for about a second. He did not hold them there long enough for Mayweather to punch him, which would’ve been dangerous. So it wasn’t all that substantive a move on McGregor’s part, even though it looked cool.
Before the fight, McGregor said he’d “outclass” Mayweather and knock him out sometime in the first few rounds, though he might let the bout go on a while. McGregor’s bravado was a big part of how he sold the fight, and it’s not surprising that he’d keep up that persona inside the ropes.
