The Detroit Pistons already made their one roadtrip to Los Angeles, so Blake Griffin won’t have to face his formerly home crowd for the rest of the regular season. But on Friday, the Pistons hosted Griffin’s old team, and it seems like the megastar might still be mad about the whole thing!
NBA scores 2018: Blake Griffin’s still not over getting traded, and 8 more things from Friday
Griffin took out his feelings against the Clippers but couldn’t pull off a win. That, and more from around an NBA Friday.

Griffin surely couldn’t have been thrilled about the 108-95 defeat, and as the buzzer sounded on Friday, he jetted off the court. There were no handshakes, no friendly chats, no dapping of his former coach. Instead, Griffin just bolted back to the locker room.
This might have only been about the defeat — you never know. But Detroit has played superb basketball since the Griffin trade, winning five straight games before finally dropping one on Friday. In the game, Griffin did record 19 points, eight rebounds, and six assists, although he only shot 7-of-19 from the field.
All that said, Griffin did also do this.
Los Angeles traded Griffin to Detroit, so again, he has every right to feel some ways about the whole situation. Well, hey, it looks like he is.
Daryl Morey’s Twitter is better than yours
I just want you to know that this is an actual Morey tweet.
I assume it was in reference to his team, the Rockets, completely annihilating Denver by about 26 points on Friday. James Harden dropped a casual 28 points and 11 assists, while Clint Capela recorded 23 points and 25 rebounds in just 28 minutes.
Decent squad, that Rockets team, eh?
Kyle Korver did a rude thing
For the first time since February 2007, Korver scored 30 points in an NBA game. It’s a) incredible that he hadn’t hit 30 even once in the decade since, and b) terribly rude that he would do it against the Atlanta Hawks, the team where he had so much goodwill from that magical 60-win team from 2015. But such is life.
Cleveland only had 10 active players after their flurry of deadline deals, and two of them were two-way contract players. Against Atlanta, that was no problem. LeBron James scored 22 points while tying his career-high (!) with 19 assists. Even more important, the team looked like they liked each other and much more engaged.
All signs point to things looking up in Cleveland.
Damian Lillard is a CJ McCollum copycat
Not even two weeks after CJ McCollum scored 50 points in 29 minutes, Damian Lillard did the exact same thing on Friday. Seriously, what!? This feat has only happened one other time (Klay Thompson with 60 last season), and now you’re expecting me to believe two backcourt mates did it within days of each other with the exact same statlines? Basketball is wild, man.
Lillard, like McCollum, subbed out at the end of the third quarter in a blowout and never needed to come back in. Actually, Lillard started to when the game got a touch too close for Portland’s liking, and it’s amusing to see Sacramento have a sense of humor about it.
Well played, Kings social media team. Kings players, however ... try a little more if you can.
Dunk contest sneak peek
WHEW. OKAY, DONOVAN.
More things from Friday
- Welcome back to Miami, Dwyane!
- We should all accept that Karl-Anthony Towns is our new sneakers overlord
- Houston’s reportedly going to nab Brandan Wright next week, which makes sense
- Hawks fans chant ‘LeBron will leave you’ at Cavaliers players, which is an amusing gesture for Atlanta fans
- Dennis Smith Jr. is still dunking and/or attempting to dunk all over the Warriors, and Draymond isn’t even contesting him now.
