Hamburg leapt over Mainz in the table and improved their chances of qualifying for next season’s Europa League with a 2-1 victory in the match between the two clubs on Saturday afternoon.

Heung-Min scored twice to lead Hamburg to an important win in the race for European football.
The two sides exchanged opportunities in the first half, but neither were able to capitalize and cash in on goal. Hamburg opened the scoring in the second half in the 61st minute thanks to, who else, Heung-Min Son.
The South Korean was on the receiving end of a pass from Rafael Van der Vaart and converted in off of the underside of the crossbar. He doubled the lead in the 80th minute after rounding Christian Wetklo and finishing in an empty net.
Shawn Parker pulled one back for Mainz in the final minutes, but they were unable to find a second goal.
Hamburg are now one point behind Eintracht Frankfurt for the final Europa League spot. Frankfurt have one game in hand, and they’ll play Augsburg tomorrow. Mainz are two points behind Hamburg.
