Fortuna Düsseldorf thought they were on their way to putting space between themselves and the relegation zone, but an own goal in the second half saw them settle for a 2-2 draw against Werder Bremen.

Fortuna Düsseldorf were on their way to a massive three points but had to settle for one after an own goal.
Stefan Reisinger scored just two minutes into the match to give Düsseldorf an early lead. Max Kruse sent him through the backline, and Reisinger made no mistake with his finish. The lead only lasted for fourteen minutes as Zlatko Junuzovic finished a great pass from Kevin De Bruyne.
The hosts retook the lead just after halftime. Reisinger grabbed his second of the match after receiving a chipped pass from Andreas Lambertz. Düsseldorf were putting on a good defensive performance, but Fabian Giefer was unable to prevent the equalizer. Martin Latka tried to block a shot from Marko Arnautovic, but he only succeeded in deflecting the ball past Geifer and into the net.
Düsseldorf are six points ahead of Hoffenheim and the relegation playoff place. Next weekend, the two sides will face each other in a big clash. Bremen sit just two points of Düsseldorf. They need to put together a couple of good results here in the next few games to assure they won’t be battling relegation in the final matches.
