Greuther Fürth vs. Borussia Dortmund: Final score 1-6, BVB delivers a beat down

BVB smashed Fürth on Saturday.

Borussia Dortmund all but sealed Greuther Fürth’s fate on Saturday with a 6-1 beatdown of the tiny Franconian club. BVB wasted no time lowering the boom on Fürth with a 5-0 scoreline at the half.

Mario Götze opened the scoring with a great dummy before shooting past Wolfgang Hesl. Three minutes later, it was 2-0. Ilkay Gundogan finished a cross from Jakub Blaszczykowski, and the visitors never looked back.

BVB scored on either side of the half hour mark to make it 4-0. The first came when Kuba finished a Götze cross with a diving header. A few minutes later, Dortmund graced us with another Kuba-to-Gundogan play to give the midfielder is brace. Götze grabbed his second just before the halftime whistle to make it 5-0.

Edgar Prib scored a nice goal to pull one back for Fürth in the 71st minute. The “joy” was short lived as Robert Lewandoski scored less than ten minutes later to make it 6-1.

Die Borussen pushed their lead over Bayer Leverkusen for second place to eight points, while Die Kleeblätter are now fifteen points from safety.
