Kansas vs. Iona final score: Joel Embiid powers Jayhawks to win, 86-66

Joel Embiid earned his first double-double three games into his collegiate career.

Freshman center Joel Embiid picked up his first career double-double as the Kansas Jayhawks rolled over the Iona Gaels, 86-66, on Tuesday.

Embiid finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds and was a perfect 7-of-7 from the floor. The Jayhawks had no problem finding the hoop, shooting 56.9 percent from the floor as a team.

Perry Ellis led the Jayhawks with 21 points and Andrew Wiggins added 13 points and seven rebounds. Naadir Tharpe put the Jayhawks' point guard issues of last season far behind them, finishing with 10 assists and just one turnover.

Sophomore guard A.J. English scored 21 points to lead the Gaels, who tried to keep the game within striking distance at the beginning of the second half. Iona trailed by seven points with 10 minutes left in the game, but Kansas outscored the Gaels 25-12 the rest of the way to coast to the win.
