Ohio State vs. North Dakota State final score: Craft becomes Buckeyes’ all-time assist leader in 79-62 win

It was a historic night for Aaron Craft as Ohio State had no problems shaking off a Bison team that had just beaten Notre Dame.

Aaron Craft became Ohio State's all-time assist leader as the third-ranked Buckeyes cruised to a 79-62 win over North Dakota State Saturday night in Columbus as part of the BlackRock Gotham Classic.

The record-breaker came on the Buckeyes' first possession of the second half, when Craft found LaQuinton Ross under the basket for an easy two points. Craft passed Jamar Butler for tops on Ohio State's all-time list and finished the game with seven assists.

That bucket from Ross put the Buckeyes up 15 points, and Ohio State cruised from there against an upset-minded Bison team. North Dakota State came into Saturday off a surprising win at Notre Dame and was looking to make it two straight against power conference programs. But the Bison never led and could not draw closer than 13 points in the second half, leaving the game in little doubt.

Ross and Lenzelle Smith Jr. each had 18 points to lead four Buckeyes in double figures. Taylor Braun had 21 points on 8-of-16 shooting to lead North Dakota State.

Ohio State made 10 of its 20 shots from beyond the arc, led by three triples each from Smith and Ross. The Buckeyes also out-rebounded North Dakota State, 36-26.
