College basketball scores: Kansas rolls behind Wiggins, San Diego State avoids upset

Andrew Wiggins set a new career-high with 27 as Kansas blew out TCU in Fort Worth, 91-69. The Jayhawks are holding court in the Big 12, now 6-0 and 1.5 games up on the rest of the Big 12 field.

Fellow freshman Joel Embiid had 14 points, but is still struggling with foul trouble. The nation's most promising young center fouled out with six minutes left in the game against a TCU team that came in with a .500 overall record. So far this season, Embiid has fouled out four times and finished with four fouls eight times. Something to keep an eye on as conference season progresses.

It wasn't easy, but the San Diego State Aztecs held off an upset bid by the Utah State Aggies, pulling out a road win in the Mountain West for their 17th consecutive victory. Xavier Thames scored a career-high 31 points for San Diego State, including 10 in overtime.

Spencer Butterfield led the Aggies with 19 points and hit a three-pointer with 2.5 seconds left in regulation to tie the game, then hit another three-pointer in overtime to give the Aggies the lead. But the Aztecs used a 7-0 run to seize control of the game and seal the win.

The Shockers got their nation-leading 21st win as they remain undefeated. The Bulldogs offered little resistance to the Missouri Valley Conference's best team, allowing Wichita to shoot 52.7 percent from the field. Cleanthony Early led the Shockers with 19 points, followed by Ron Baker's 14. With each game that goes by, it become more likely that Wichita State becomes the first undefeated team in college basketball's regular season since the 2004 St. Joe's team ran the table in the Atlantic 10.

Kevin Pangos had 24 points as the Zags took care of BYU Saturday night. Center Sam Dower chipped in 18 on 7-of-12 shooting, improving Gonzaga's record to 7-1 in the West Coast Conference. Conference leading scorer Tyler Haws countered with 23 of his own for the Cougars, but BYU couldn't match the Zags' 10 three-pointers.
