No one is safe in the Big Ten these days. On Sunday afternoon at the Kohl Center, Wisconsin upset No. 9 Michigan State, 60-58, to pick up the team’s biggest win of the season.
Wisconsin vs. Michigan State score: Badgers win thriller on Traevon Jackson’s game-winner
Adreian Payne hit a clutch three-pointer to tie the game with less than 10 seconds to go. Jackson then flew down the court and sank a jumper to secure Wisconsin’s biggest win of the year.

With Michigan State down, 58-55, in the final minute, Wisconsin's Ben Brust, a 94 percent free throw shooter, had a chance to put the game on ice after being fouled intentionally. The first attempt of a one-and-one rimmed out, giving the Spartans one final chance. After Tom Izzo called a timeout, Adreian Payne drilled a three pointer from the top of the arc to tie the game at 58-58.
Bo Ryan called a timeout to talk things over with nine seconds remaining. Traevon Jackson took the ball the length of the court and pulled up from 12 feet out, drilling a jumper with 2.1 seconds remaining. Travis Trice chucked the ball up from half court as the buzzer sounded, but the ball clanked off the rim, sending the Badgers into a frenzy.
It wasn’t the prettiest of offensive performances on Sunday. The two teams combined to shoot about 41 percent from the floor, with Michigan State going just 5-of-19 from behind the arc. The two squads also made just 18 of 29 from the free throw line.
The win came on a balanced effort from the Badgers. Four players reached double-digits, with Nigel Hayes coming off the bench for 14 points. Sam Dekker was somewhat quiet with 11 points. Josh Gasser also had 11 points, while Frank Kaminsky had 10.
Payne led all scorers 24 points and four rebounds. Trice chipped in with 13 and stepped up down the stretch. Gary Harris had a day to forget, going 3-for-20 from the field on his way to six points.
