Kevon Looney dunks on Stanford

It’s been a rough year for UCLA, but freshman Kevon Looney has been a quality bright spot. Just don’t expect him to stick around too long, Bruins fans.
Update: He did this, too:

Ray Carlin-USA TODAY SportsKansas was on the ropes the entire night against Baylor in its Big 12 opener on Wednesday evening. When Kansas guard Frank Mason Jr. missed a three-pointer with 24 seconds to play and the Jayhawks only up win, it seemed like the Bears were in prime position to get the go-ahead score.
This is what happened:

You can kinda see why this isn’t a bucket -- the foul was on the first shot. The guy who threw it off the rim for Reynolds to slam down, Myles Davis, hit two free throws.
Maybe a good call by the rulebook -- Traylor might’ve gotten there a millisecond late? -- but this is the ultimate COME ON REFS, LET IT COUNT EVEN IF IT’S ILLEGAL BECAUSE IT’S TOO GOOD

Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY SportsWith Seton Hall’s loss to Xavier on Wednesday night, DePaul is now the lone undefeated team in the Big East. Yes, that’s the same (talented) Xavier team DePaul beat last week. The Blue Demons are also in action on the night and are leading Creighton by double-digits in the first half.
DePaul at the top of the standings. What is this, 1984?

Sam Dekker has already had a hell of a career at Wisconsin, and the junior forward still has plenty of time left to add to his legacy. This is a nice way to score a milestone bucket.

Ohio State blitzed Minnesota in the first half thanks to 25 points from D’Angelo Russell, but he didn’t do anything as cool as this play by Marc Loving.

Mark Zerof-USA TODAY SportsKentucky had trailed at the half before -- it happened against Buffalo and Columbia earlier this season. What made Tuesday night’s upset bid by Ole Miss interesting was that the Wildcats weren’t able to shake the Rebels out of the gates in the second half. Ole Miss held a two-point halftime lead and stuck with John Calipari’s team all night, pushing the game to overtime before the Wildcats’ immense talent advantage finally came through for an 89-86 victory.
In overtime, Kentucky hit enough free throws and caused enough turnovers down the stretch to come away with the victory. Ole Miss had two chances to tie the game up down three in the final 20 seconds, but both shots missed.

Spruce Derden-USA TODAY SportsKentucky had an 18-5 lead just a few minutes in, but the Wildcats stopped hitting shots -- they only made two in the last 13 minutes of the half -- and Ole Miss rallied back, thanks in part to four threes by Stefan Moody. The Rebels are only up, 38-36, but they’re fighting.

Bob Donnan-USA TODAY SportsThe win continues an incredible start to the season for Notre Dame. The Irish are now 15-1, with that lone blemish coming by one point against a solid Providence team. Mike Brey’s squad has an identity, a star player and an ability to hit shots.
North Carolina again showed an inability to hit shots from the outside. The Tar Heels shot 4-of-16 from three-point range and only made 36.9 percent of their shots from the field on the night.

Wichita State moved to 12-2 on the season with an eight-point win over Illinois State on Sunday night. Senior guard Tekele Cotton was one of four scorers in double-figures. He also did this. It’s one way to get noticed on a team with Ron Baker and Fred VanVleet.

St. Bonaventure coach Mark Schmidt ruptured his Achilles in practice on Dec. 19. Nobody would’ve blamed the coach for taking it easy, but the coach fought on, hopping on one leg while shouting instructions and wheeling around on a scooter when he really needed to move. It was all going fine, until....
The Bonnies beat UMass, 69-55, but as Schmidt scooted past UMass coach Derek Kellogg, a wheel got tangled with a leg and BOOM.

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY SportsVirginia entered its game against Miami at No. 3 in the polls and as one of four undefeated teams remaining in college basketball. The Hurricanes had fallen out of the polls after losing three of their last five following an 8-0 start. On Saturday, the two teams met in Coral Gables to produce the wildest contest of the day’s 118-game slate. It ended in double overtime, with Virginia surviving 89-80.
Let’s start with Virginia leading Miami by 10 points with about 12 minutes left. Miami closed the gap to five over the next five minutes, and that’s when Hurricanes guard Angel Rodriguez decided to take over. Rodriguez scored 13 points in the final seven minutes and forced overtime by draining three straight free throws at the buzzer -- after Evan Nolte missed a free throw with five seconds left, Rodriguez ran down the court and was fouled by Justin Anderson with under a second remaining.
