Here’s your feel-good story of the day: six months after being diagnosed with Leukemia, Texas Longhorns guard Andrew Jones is back to playing basketball.
Texas’ Andrew Jones fought cancer. Now he’s back to playing basketball
This is so inspiring.

Jones has been on the road to recovery since receiving his diagnosis in January. He had trouble just getting out of bed shortly after receiving his initial treatment. Early videos showed him shooting baskets in a hospital wearing a mask and glove.
While he’s still reportedly a long away from officially returning to college basketball, the recent videos of him back in the gym are incredibly inspiring. There is so much joy here:
Big 12 schools honored Jones throughout the season. He was released from the hospital at the end of February and started receiving outpatient treatment. He’s already enrolled in online classes at Texas. Now he’s making his way back onto the court.
Jones was a great college player and legit NBA prospect before the diagnosis. He was a McDonald’s All-American out of high school who tested the NBA draft waters after his freshman year. He decided to return for his sophomore season, where he was making serious strides as a scorer (13 points per game) and shooter (46 percent from three-point range) before leaving for the rest of the season to receive treatment.
It’s not guarantee that Jones will be playing for Texas this upcoming season, according to NBC Sports. But just seeing Jones back in the gym is a beautiful sight.
