Florida State Goes All-In For Mackensie Alexander By Offering Brother Mackenro

Every school in the country wants cornerback Mackensie Alexander. Out of Immokalee, Fla., High School, the defensive back is one of the top players in the nation at his position. But not every school has wanted to make an offer to his brother, Mackenro, a safety recruit.

But that seems to be changing, as the Florida St. Seminoles have upped the ante in the Mackensie sweepstakes by offering Mackenro a scholarship even though he is not considered to be a top talent by most analysts:

Florida State already holds a commitment from 2014 Immokalee stud receiver J.C. Jackson and did, for a few months, hold a commitment from 2013 defensive tackle Deadrin Senat, before the big man elected to decommit to make sure he saw all potential options.

The decision to offer Mackenro certainly helps strengthen Florida State’s ties to Immokalee, and it puts FSU in clear relief of Miami, a school which many thought would land Mackensie, because the Hurricanes have limited scholarships to give in the 2013 cycle. And that calculation is based on existing numbers, which will certainly decrease once NCAA sanctions are handed down in Coral Gables.
