Thomas is thought to be a battle between Florida State, Miami and Alabama, with USC somewhat in the picture. Miami fans were hoping that Thomas would cancel his USC visit last weekend and visit Miami with the large group of recruits last weekend.

The biggest visitor of the weekend for the Trojans is Eddie Vanderdoes, a five-star defensive tackle from Auburn, Calif., Placer High School. At 6’3, 310 pounds, Vanderdoes is rated as the No. 1 defensive tackle prospect in the Class of 2013 by 247Sports and ESPN, while Rivals lists him as a four-star and the No. 4 player at his position.

Matthew Thomas Bud Elliott -- SB NationFresh off winning a state title with his Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington teammates, elite linebacker Matthew Thomas is turning his focus to recruiting.
And like many South Florida recruits, Thomas continues to buck the trend of committing early. He still has official visits to take, likely to Miami, Alabama, Georgia and Florida State. Though he has claimed that Miami or Florida State lead in the past, he declined to name any school as his current leader. He did, however, talk about the schools under consideration.
