A late-night scoop from 247sports’ Tom Loy ($) -- five-star linebacker recruit Matthew Thomas plans to officially visit Miami Wednesday:
Matthew Thomas to officially visit Miami Wednesday
Miami will get an official visit from Thomas after all.
“I’m going to Miami on an official tomorrow,” Thomas said. “I’m doing like a mid-week visit. I think Tracy (Howard), Deon (Bush) or one of them guys from Miami will be my host. I’ve been there a lot, so I know what it’s about. I’m just looking to meet up with the coaches, talking to them and seeing where I fit if I go there.”
Thomas is thought to be a battle between Florida State, Miami and Alabama, with USC somewhat in the picture. Miami fans were hoping that Thomas would cancel his USC visit last weekend and visit Miami with the large group of recruits last weekend.
That didn’t happen, as he tripped to USC, but getting Thomas on campus for a night should be the next best thing. It’s certainly better than the alternative, from Miami’s perspective, which would be not getting an official visit from Thomas at all, given that he is visiting Florida State and Georgia in the two remaining weekends before signing day.
