A visit to College Station to take in the Texas A&M-Alabama game over the weekend resulted in a new leader for Arlington (Texas) Bowie safety/outside linebacker Edwin Freeman, who once again moved the Aggies to the top of his list, according to a report from TexAgs.

For the second time in the past year, the Aggies have displaced the Longhorns atop the safety/outside linebacker’s list.
A consensus four-star prospect ranked as the No. 10 outside linebacker prospect nationally and the No. 17 player in the state of Texas, the 6’1, 212-pound Freeman had reinserted childhood favorite Texas as his leader during the spring after the Aggies passed the Longhorns last fall. It even looked like Freeman was set to become a Longhorn prior to the start of his season, but he opted to extend his recruitment in order to take official visits in the fall, though his trip to College Station was unofficial.
Freeman also plans on visiting LSU at some point during the fall and had TCU in the mix with Texas and Texas A&M as his top three during the summer.
The Longhorns do still have one advantage in the recruitment of Freeman, as they are one of the few schools to continue telling him that he can play safety after he spent his junior season playing linebacker at a high level. However, the 1-2 start to the season for Texas that is increasingly imperiling the job security of head coach Mack Brown doesn’t make the sales job any easier.
The Aggies currently have 14 pledges in the 2014 class and two of them are linebackers, but it increasingly looks like star recruit Hoza Scott of La Porte (Texas) may not qualify academically.
