Travis Rudolph commits to Florida State over Alabama: Seminoles land 4-star receiver recruit

Four-star wide receiver Travis Rudolph made his college decision Thursday on ESPN at the Under Armour All-America Game. The star playmaker will be headed to Florida State.

Listed at 6’1 and 185 pounds, Rudolph attends Cardinal Newman (Fla.) High School and hails from West Palm Beach, Fla. He is rated as a four-star recruit by the 247Sports Composite, which considers him the 69th-best player in the class. Rudolph is ranked as the seventh-best wide receiver in the country, and the 10th-best player in the state of Florida. He took official visits to Ohio State, Tennessee, Florida State, Auburn and Alabama.

Rudolph, who previously committed to Miami, named a final five in August that was slightly different from his list of five official visits. At that point, he was choosing between Alabama, Florida State, Ohio State, Florida and Vanderbilt.

Rudolph is Florida State’s 29th recruit of the 2014 class, and the 15th rated four-stars or better.

Our own Bud Elliott scouted Rudolph in March.

Rudolph is a playmaker. He does not have elite track speed, though is it good and he plays faster than his times. What he does have, however, is a knack for playing the position, and a smooth, gliding style that makes things happen.
