Whatever scant hope Texas Longhorns fans and coaches had of somehow flipping Richmond (Texas) Travis cornerback Nick Harvey were put to rest after the 5'9, 175-pound cornerback told multiple services that he won't be taking any more visits after his official visits to Texas A&M over the weekend.

A longtime Aggie pledge, Harvey had drawn some attention last spring after unexpectedly taking in the Texas spring game on a visit that was supposed to have been a secret and was until Harvey walked by reporters by the media room after the game.

But Harvey told AggieYell.com that the departure of former head coach Mack Brown and defensive backs coach Duane Akina ended any chance of him taking an official visit to Texas, so when the new coaching staff contacted him, he declined the opportunity to trip to Austin.
Ranked as a consensus four-star prospect, the US Army All-American is versatile enough to play any position in the secondary with his combination of speed and striking ability and said that he will also spend some time on offense to take advantage of his dynamic ability with the ball in his hands. Harvey will get a chance on special teams, too.
So while the appeal of playing in the SEC for a program that has been rising quickly in the mind of blue-chip football players in Texas may have been enough to keep Harvey in the fold, the decision by the A&M staff to take advantage of Harvey’s significant talents in multiple ways was a smart move that has helped ensure that he never significantly wavered from his pledge to the Aggies.

Harvey is the No. 7 cornerback nationally and the No. 8 player in the state of Texas in the 247Sports Composite rankings, as well as the No. 57 player in the country. The former Lancaster star originally committed to Texas A&M in November of 2012 over offers from Arkansas, Baylor, LSU, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Virginia.
Among the 20 commits and early enrollees in the class for Texas A&M, Harvey is ranked fourth-highest, making him an integral part of a group that sits at No. 3 in the SEC and No. 5 nationally in the 247Sports Composite team rankings.
