Sean Mannion injury: Oregon State QB available to play Saturday vs. Utah

Oregon State quarterback Sean Mannion will be in uniform for the Beavers on Saturday, just eight days after having surgery to repair a torn left meniscus.

Oregon State Beavers head coach Mike Riley announced Thursday that quarterback Sean Mannion will be available for Saturday's game at home against the Utah Utes just eight days after undergoing surgery to repair a torn left meniscus. The Oregonian's Lindsay Schnell writes Mannion says he's good to go.

“I feel great,” Mannion said. “I feel like I could have gone a little earlier (than Wednesday), but it felt wiser to leave it in the doctors’ hands. But right now I feel awesome, I feel 100 percent.”

If Riley decides to hold Mannion out for another week, the Beavers will turn to backup Cody Vaz, who was named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week last week after going 20-of-32 for 332 yards and three touchdowns at BYU. This comes two weeks after Mannion himself was named Pac-12 Player of the Week.

Mannion told reporters that there’s no quarterback controversy between he and Voz and that two are completely supportive of one another. Kickoff for the Beavers and Utes is set for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. PT from Reser Stadium in Corvalis, Ore.
