Although the sophomore returned to practice last week, Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson won't be cleared to play against the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday unless he passes a "full physical exertion" test on Monday, as head coach Brian Kelly tells Brian Hamilton of the Chicago Tribune.

Still recovering from a recent concussion, Notre Dame starting quarterback Everett Golson won’t be cleared to play against Oklahoma on Saturday unless he passes additional tests on Monday.
After suffering a concussion against the Stanford Cardinal on Oct. 13, Golson returned to practice last Wednesday following a series of tests, but the team ultimately decided to sit him rather than rush him back into action. With junior Tommy Rees starting at quarterback in his place, the Irish narrowly avoided an upset against the BYU Cougars.
As Kelly notes, Golson participated in practice last week, but not to the extent that the coaching staff was ready to put him back in game situations:
“He took reps, but the reps he took were really more of 7-on-7 and some team reps,” Kelly said. “We really haven’t run him physically like he would in a game situation after a big run and maybe he comes back back and runs an option play. I just want to make sure we cover everything. We expect that go well. If it goes well, now it’s just full steam ahead to Oklahoma.”
Golson started five of Notre Dame’s first six games after emerging as the starter during the spring. This season, he’s completed 59 percent of his passes for 968 yards, four touchdowns and three inceptions in addition to rushing for 81 yards and two scores.
