Notre Dame vs. Oklahoma: Everett Golson to start over Tommy Rees

Notre Dame Fighting Irish quarterback Everett Golson will start when the Irish take on the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish quarterback Everett Golson will start for the Irish on Saturday when they take on the Oklahoma Sooners. Head coach Brian Kelly told Brian Hamilton of the Chicago Tribune that Golson is "100 percent" after passing his cardio test on Tuesday.

Golson suffered a concussion following a helmet-to-helmet hit in Notre Dame's 20-13 win over the Stanford Cardinal on Oct. 13. The injury caused Golson to miss Notre Dame's narrow 17-14 win over the BYU Cougars. Junior quarterback Tommy Rees started in place of Golson against BYU.

Rees went 7-for-16 for 117 yards with one touchdown and one interception against the Cougars. On the season Golson has started five of the Irish’s seven games and has thrown for 968 yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions with a completion percentage of 58.5. Rees has the same completion percentage on the season, throwing for 335 yards with two TDs and one INT.

The undefeated Irish will take on the Sooners in Norman, Okla., in a battle of top 10 teams at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, Oct. 27.
