No. 10 Wisconsin fends off late charge form WVU

Mary Langenfeld-USA TODAY SportsA first-half scoring binge by the Badgers proved too much for West Virginia, as No. 10 Wisconsin defeated the Mountaineers, 70-63, in the Cancun Challenge. Ben Brust hit four threes on his way to 16 points for the Badgers.
West Virginia looked like they could hang with the Big Ten powerhouse, leading Wisconsin, 11-10, to open the game. But the Badgers ripped off a 20-2 run and were able to hang on for the seven-point victory. Forward Sam Dekker had a double-double for Bo Ryan’s team, scoring 21 and pulling down 12 rebounds.

Davis explained that when the two confronted each other at the reception, Floyd jabbed his finger into Enfield’s chest as a crowd that included Enfield’s wife looked on. He said that alcohol was served at the event, but it did not appear to be a factor.

Eastern Michigan led for the first six minutes of the game until Harrison made a three to put Kentucky up 10-8. The Wildcats kept the lead for almost the rest of the afternoon, but a 13-6 spurt to end the first half kept the Eagles close.

Dayton upset Gonzaga in the opening round before the Bulldogs beat Chaminade to set up their game with Arkansas. The Razorbacks lost to California in the first round and beat Minnesota on Tuesday.
